Asilah has a long and rich history started in ancient time around
1500 B.C.
The town has gone through conquering and rebuilding by several different cultures,including Phoenician, Roman, Portuguese, Spanish, and of course Moroccan.
The fortification of Asilah was left by the Portuguese around the year of 1500 A.D.
Being used as a stronghold for crusades, ramparts and gates where built toprotect the town. Today these relics are still intact and a defining feature of the town’s image.
